Mixing wood tones without a messy room

Oak, walnut, and a painted piece can share a room if two of them lean warm or two lean cool. The mistake is three unrelated browns of the same size.

Repeat the darker wood in a small place: a frame, a stool, a lamp base. The eye reads that as a choice.

If you are unsure, start with the floor. A warm floor wants a cooler wood somewhere, or the whole room turns yellow by evening.
